Since 2013, we have provided open group art therapy in the Outpatients Department for the Rheumatology clinic once a month.

This illustration highlights the impact:

“A young boy was screaming, crying and refusing to go into his appointment. He eventually came to paint at the art table and when the doctor called his name he protested about leaving the table. Recognising the soothing effect that art was having for the boy, the doctor came and examined him as he painted. He then left him with the art therapist, so that he could have a chat with the boy’s Mum. This shows the wider impact of the art table, as it not only enabled the child to be examined calmly but also gave mum some quiet time with the doctor, knowing her son was safe and calm.” Art Therapist

During the pandemic, we have provided online small group art therapy to the young patient in Dundee.

As part of wider outreach in the city, we have also worked with the V&A Museum and mental health charity, Feeling Strong. Details are shared on a table of 2020-2021 partnerships on the Where We Work page of our website.
