This free online conference will explore current and developing research and practice in the field of art therapy focussed on better outcomes for the mental health of children and young people with chronic health conditions.

Throughout the day delegates will hear from experienced art therapists alongside expert researchers with the opportunity to participate in sessions on a range of diverse and engaging topics including:

  • Meeting the need for timely age-appropriate mental health support for children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis through art therapy.
  • Outdoor therapeutic art workshops to support neurodivergent children to self-manage anxiety and build resilience at times of transition.

  • Insights into a research and evidence gathering partnership with Great North Children’s Hospital and the University of Newcastle that aims to understand why and how art therapy is an effective psychological tool and to develop resource materials to help parents support their children’s therapy journey to best effect
