Communication Cards At school sometimes I feel like I get bullied and that stresses me. It’s difficult having arthritis and going to school at the same time. Daisy, Young Ambassador Recognising the challenges of attending school while living with invisible conditions, our Young Voices group developed these simple communication cards to be used in schools when young people want to communicate with others discreetly. The young people decided that they wanted an easy, streamlined way to communicate their needs to their teachers without worrying about other students hearing. With three easy colours, red, orange, and green, a wipeable surface, and small size, these communication cards can be kept in a pencil case until needed. By drawing a symbol on each card and showing or handing a card to their teacher, they can use this simple resource to communicate what they need to be supported. Use the simple form below to order your communication card resource pack. You can also download the pack. Make Your Own We know that colours can have different meanings for children, so we also have blank templates available where children can choose what colours they’d like to communicate with, making these cards completely personal to them. This can be paired with our colour wheel activity to explore the meanings and emotions young people associate with particular colours. You can download a blank copy here.
