Teapot Trust art therapy can help children with chronic or life-long conditions in lots of ways. It can help children to:

  • explore and express their feelings about their condition
  • build resilience and confidence develop positive coping strategies
  • cope with big changes or transitions
  • meet others who have similar conditions.

The Teapot Trust, in partnership with Muscular Dystrophy UK, are offering an online art therapy group for children living with muscle wasting conditions who are aged 8 - 12 . The sessions will run from the week beginning 15th April 2024 and last for 8 weeks. Each session will last for one hour.

If you’d like your child to take part please, contact Cat Thomson at [email protected]

Here is what a few other children and families have said how art therapy helped:

Feedback from children and their parents and carers about how art therapy helped:

I just think it is a good outlet to let everything out and it feels like it is helping me, something to look forward to on a Tuesday, I feel more relaxed and feel I can say what is on my mind.” Child

By the end of the sessions, there was a huge improvement in his mental health and it helped him completely turn around the way he was feeling to enable him to cope so much better. He now seems to have a very positive outlook on life.” Parent

Art Therapy really boosted my child’s confidence and was a great chance for him to meet others who share similar experiences.” Parent

My daughter would be in pain before and would come out a different child without pain being the dominant factor in her life. Other times she would come out a be the happy, sparkly girl that we used to know. For that I can never thank you enough.” Parent

I could hear her confidence in speaking as the weeks progressed. I also find her chilling and drawing to ease her anxiety.Parent
