Volunteer opportunities

Teapot Trust is always looking to involve volunteers within our charity programme. We try to keep our administration and office staffing costs as low as possible to ensure all money donated goes directly to our art therapy projects. Community support is vital to our operations and integral to our sustainment as a charity. Events Assistant Volunteer - Role Description

Role Description

This role varies depending on the type of event you'd be assisting with. Events are likely to include festivals, informational fairs, market stalls, fundraising events, and events for our service users and families.  

Tasks

Tasks may vary but are likely to include:

  •    Hosting promotional stalls
  •    Helping with set-up and break down of events
  •    Running crafting tables
  •    Collecting tickets
  •    Selling merchandise or baked goods
  •    Collecting donations
  •    Raising awareness for the Teapot Trust

Person Specifications

  •    Comfortable working within a team setting
  •    Friendly and approachable
  •    Interested in meeting new people
  •    Flexible and happy to lend a hand

Training and Support

We would provide any relevant training beforehand and inform you of any event specific information that you would need on the day. Scheduling beforehand, ensuring appropriate breaks are taken, and detailed training will be provided to aid you in your role. We are available and happy to provide any additional support or information when needed.

Additional Information

A volunteer agreement must be completed before you begin your volunteering journey. Reasonable travel arrangements will be reimbursed.

Role Description

Teapot Trust is looking to build its supporter base, and we are hoping to spread the word about what we do to our service users and their families. The main purpose of this role is to chat with the families of our service users to let them know about the mission of the Teapot Trust and what they can do to get involved and support us. As an awareness raiser and recruiter, the role will entail encouraging families to donate, sign up for our newsletter, and get involved by fundraising for us. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in how art therapy works and is also looking to gain invaluable recruitment, outreach, and conversational skills. As well as valuable insight into the art therapy process, you will gain experience in effectively communicating and public engagement all while supporting a great cause and helping children with chronic illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with the public about the charity, its mission, and how people can get involved
  • Promoting the Teapot Trust and encouraging families to get involved
  • Handing out promotional information for the charity

Person Specifications

  •  Interested in meeting new people and socialising
  • Great communication/conversational skills
  • Interested in art therapy and how it works
  • Motivated to help a great cause

Training and Support

We will provide any information you may need to promote the Teapot Trust and explain how art therapy helps our service members manage chronic conditions. Training will include background on the charity, information about our services, and ways people can get involved or support them.  We will work with you until you are comfortable promoting the charity and approaching people at our open group sessions.  

Additional Information

Your schedule will depend on when our services are offered at the applicable hospital. A volunteer registration form and orientation must be completed before you begin your volunteering journey. We will need to obtain a confidentiality form and a PVG for you before starting as well. All materials will be provided and include a Teapot Trust t-shirt, promotional materials, and any materials you may need to understand the Teapot Trust and tell others about us.

This role involves raising awareness for the Teapot Trust through the dissemination of promotional materials and the delivery of presentations to various community groups.

Tasks

  • Identifying possible community centres, libraries, stores, events, etc. where promotional information can be placed
  • Gaining permission from the owner or business where you are hoping to display leaflets or posters
  • Targeting and arranging visits to schools, local businesses, or community groups to discuss the Teapot Trust and how people can get involved or donate
  • Recruiting volunteers

  • Capable of engaging diverse audiences

Training and Support

We will provide information about the Teapot Trust, its mission, and strategies to get people involved with our charity. We will also provide support including an inspirational list of locations you can research for speaking opportunities or locations to target for promotional materials dissemination. We are available and happy to give any additional support or information when needed.

Role Description

This is a flexible role and is easily adaptable to different interests and involvement levels. It entails leading self-directed art programmes of your choice as a fundraising and awareness initiative for the Teapot Trust. Please note, this would be a programme developed completely by you to correlate with your interests or skills. It involves running an artistic session, charging admission or a fee for participation, and donating proceeds to the Trust. Groups can include knitting, crafting, painting, sculpting, crocheting, journaling, etc. and could involve a weekly meeting for you and your friends or community members. Workshops or 'crafting parties' are also options if you are looking for less of a commitment but are still interested in raising funds for us. Art therapy or relaxation techniques can be incorporated into your sessions if you so choose. Learn more about professional art therapy here.

Tasks

Tasks vary depending on your group, but are likely to include:

  • Organising a programme by deciding who you want to involve, where you will hold your programme, what you will be doing, and when you will meet
  • Obtaining necessary permissions for your programme or workshop
  • Developing membership guidelines
  • Promoting your group through social media, word of mouth, or physical promotions such as flyers or leaflets
  • Describing where donations will be going and the mission of the Teapot Trust

Person Specifications

  • Self-starter and capable of taking initiative
  • Good organisational skills
  • Interested in meeting new people and socialising through art
  • Willing to take on a larger project and see it through
  • Motivated to help a great cause

Training and Support

This role involves participating in a sponsored event of your choice and selecting the Teapot Trust as your charity to sponsor.

Tasks

 Activities are dependent on the event you are participating in. Search UK marathons, cycling events, walk-a-thons, mountain climbs, bungee jump, etc. for charity or check out the Teapot Trust website for upcoming sponsored events that we are promoting.

  •    Having fun while raising money for a great cause
  •    Promoting your activities
  •    Asking people to sponsor you
  •    Providing details about your experience and pictures to the Teapot Trust

Person Specifications

  •    Adventurous spirit
  •    Comfortable asking for sponsorship
  •    Happy to promote the Teapot Trust

Training and Support

We will provide T-shirts or vests that you can wear to raise awareness for the Trust during your event. If you'd like, we can help promote your cause via social media and offer useful tips on maximising your sponsorship. We are available and happy to provide any additional support or information when needed. Contact us for sponsorship forms if none are provided through your event.

Additional Information

A fundraising agreement must be completed before you fundraise on our behalf.

This leadership role involves coordinating events and opportunities to raise funds and awareness for the Teapot Trust. Events can include tea parties, craft fairs, bake sales, art exhibits, pub quizzes, sports tournaments, walk-a-thons, jumble sales, or any other event you and your group are interested in holding.

Tasks

  • Coordinating membership for your fundraising group and serving as the contact person for upcoming events
  • Running risk analyses and safety procedure reviews for fundraising events
  • Coordinating team fundraising meetings and supervising your team
  • Arranging the dissemination of promotional materials
  • Coordinating the distribution of collection cans or buckets in your community or at your events
  • Responsible for counting and banking the money raised in your efforts
  • Responsible for recruiting new members to join your fundraising team
  • Liaise with other community groups and organisations and keep an eye out for community partnerships for future fundraising events
  • Have fun while supporting a great cause

Inspiration for the events, safety information, and further details are provided in the pack. We are available and happy to provide any additional support or information when needed.

Additional Information

All funds should be deposited within 2 weeks of collection. No expenses should be deducted from the donations without preapproval and a receipt for the Teapot Trust. A volunteer registration form and fundraising agreement must be completed before you fundraise on our behalf. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. As this is a more involved role, we can discuss additional expenses on a case by case basis.

  • Obtaining the appropriate permission and licences to conduct fundraising for all the locations you will be collecting in
  • Standing in public places for periods of time
  • Raising awareness about the Teapot Trust and its mission
  • Collecting, counting, and banking donated funds
  • Keeping records of your collection processes and sending along this information to the Teapot Trust

  • Confident and comfortable engaging and speaking with people you do not know
