In May 2019, we welcomed Sarah Randell as Teapot Trust’s Chief Executive to steer the charity’s ambitious plans as we approach our tenth anniversary in 2020.  Sarah has joined organisations at times of pivotal change and helped drive growth.  She brings strategic thinking, creativity, and is highly relational in her approach.  Previously, Sarah held Head of Fundraising and Director of Development roles in the charity sector, the arts and education and she has volunteered in mental health.

Approaching the end of her first year in post, Sarah said:

“It’s been a year of unprecedented change and challenge but a hugely positive one.  Together, we’ve made significant progress with our advocacy and influencing work. One major piece of research is complete and another in prospect  is gathering momentum which could be game-changing for the charity in accessing public funding.

We’ve embedded art therapy in 3 partner hospitals to the point where they’re ready to fund the work themselves, enabling us to move on and support others so that more children and young people living with chronic conditions can benefit.  Our community presence is starting through pilot partnerships with WHALE Arts in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh and Dundee’s V&A.

We were fortunate to work alongside business professionals from Pilotlight who helped shape strategic planning while a private dining event provided an opportunity to thank major donors for their continued commitment.  We welcomed new faces to Team Teapot – staff, art therapists, a young ambassador and volunteers.  We’ve also recruited fresh talent to our board of trustees and reviewed our governance processes.

Most recently, in the context of COVID-19, I’ve been enormously proud of our core staff team and art therapists who together have acted swiftly and imaginatively to move our therapy services online using video conferencing, putting in place the necessary protocols to ensure safety, as well as developing a suite of Wellbeing resources for children to access at home.  This is a testament to their commitment and professionalism.

Now, we’re looking forward to marking the charity’s tenth birthday with an imminent re-brand and other exciting plans ahead…”
