"I had never ran a marathon so to compete in Barcelona plus for such an inspiring charity such as the Teapot Trust was an honour. I chose the charity as they are local, receive no funding from the NHS or Government, so fundraising is even more vital! Plus the art therapy work they undertake with children throughout the UK is truly inspiring.

With around 20,000 people partaking in the marathon and in a city such as Barcelona needless to say I was quite nervous! With the weather at around 25 degrees as well I was very much out of my comfort zone but I ended up enjoying it tremendously.

I was aiming for sub four hours, the first 20 miles went according to plan but cramp unfortunately hit in the last 6 miles and I lost quite a bit of time. I managed to finish in 4 hours 15 minutes and although it was more than I was expecting, I felt an enormous sense of achievement at the end, even with the sore legs!

I will definitely be competing in another marathon, although not anytime soon! It is an experience I would highly recommend to anymore, especially if you are able to fundraise for such an inspiring charity as the Teapot Trust."
