"My story is a simple one. I like to challenge myself to take on things that will remove me from my comfort zone. I like to push myself to achieve a goal or overcome a hurdle. Only when you leave the comfort zone do you realise how hard something can be, but with determination and strong will, you can push through and be rewarded at the end. I have twice completed 85 mile walks in under 24 hours. They were mentally and physically tough challenges. But there was support - a team behind me who encouraged and motivated me to keep going. I started to challenge myself after my dad was diagnosed with leukaemia. He was having a tough time with chemotherapy and was definitely out of his comfort zone! I decided to show my support for him by walking 85 miles in one day at a local event called the Parish Walk. I didn't want him to feel alone with his pain. To see my suffering may have somehow distracted him from his.

This year I am so grateful to the Teapot Trust for offering me the opportunity to challenge myself further by attempting to complete the London Marathon. I am also thankful to Dr John Taylor for thinking of me and putting my name forward to take on this wonderful event. The Trust's story is fantastic motivation. Children just want to play, have fun and be creative. Hospital may not be the place they choose, but with the Teapot Trust's help they're given a chance to get back to being kids. The thought of children not having the best time is such a strong emotion for me.  I hope I can do my best for them and raise funds to continue the great work that helps them have a bit of their comfort zone back!"
