We are over the moon for our Founder, Laura, who has received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours.
Laura Young said, “Being given an MBE is a great honour and it is wonderful to have recognised the work that we’ve been doing over the last five years. Of course, the award is testament to the contribution of our therapists, support team, volunteers and very kind donors that make our work possible.”
Thank you to John Byrne, Lyon & Turnbull and the buyer who raised an amazing £20,000 for us with the sale of this unique piece of work.
The buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous, said “I have long been a fan of John Byrne and I admire his generosity of spirit in donating the painting to this wonderful charity. This will take pride of place next to another of his paintings in my collection. I read a great deal about the charity when I saw it for sale in the Lyon & Turnbull catalogue, and it makes it all the more special knowing that the money will go to such a worthy cause.”
We were over the moon to win 2 awards last week at the Charity Champion Awards in Glasgow!
“We are thrilled that the Teapot Trust has been recognised at the Charity Champion Awards with the Children’s Charity of the Year and the Charity of the Year (under £250k). It is wonderful that we are recognised not just for what we do, but the way we do it.
Our 18 projects in Scotland span from Inverness to the Borders, providing art therapy to chronically-ill children in medical settings, and these awards recognise the amazing effort over the past 5 years of the Teapot Team, our supporters, funders and volunteers; these awards are for you – for making it all happen.” – Laura Young
A big thank you to the Battle of the Bands committee for raising an outstanding £11,102.52 at their recent event! Down’s Syndrome Scotland and ourselves, The Teapot Trust, will both receive £5,551.26 each!
The money raised will enable us to provide a whole year of art therapy every Saturday morning on Ward 2 at the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the night such a success, including Lloyd’s Banking Group, Aberdeen Asset Management, the bands, audience and volunteers!
We are delighted to be supported by the new Starbucks opening today in Dunfermline! It is the first drive-thru Starbucks to open in the East of Scotland, so if you live near by be sure to pop in for a coffee on your way to work!
